Privacy policy
What we collect
Only what an order actually requires: your name, email address, shipping address and the contents of your order. If you subscribe to Field Notes or ask to be notified about a product, we keep your email address for that purpose.
What we never see
We do not collect, process or store your card details. Payments are handled entirely on Stripe's hosted checkout. Your card number never touches this website or our systems. Stripe's handling of that data is governed by Stripe's privacy policy.
How we use it
To process and ship your order, to handle returns and guarantee claims, to answer your questions and, only if you asked for it, to send Field Notes or a stock notification. That is the whole list.
Who we share it with
Our payment processor (Stripe) and our shipping carriers, each only to the extent needed to take payment and deliver your parcel. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. We disclose information otherwise only where the law requires it.
Your choices
You can unsubscribe from Field Notes using the link in any letter. You may ask us what data we hold about you, correct it or delete it; email us and we will act within 30 days. Order records we are required to keep for tax or legal reasons may not be deletable, and we will say so plainly if that applies to you.
Cookies and local storage
This site keeps your cart, wishlist and compare list in your own browser's local storage so they survive a refresh. We do not run third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
How we count visits
To know which pages and products are useful, the site sends our own server a small note when a page is viewed or an item is added to the cart, searched for, saved or compared. No cookie is set for this and no IP address is stored: each visit is counted with a code that is scrambled with a secret and changes every day, so it cannot be used to follow you from one day to the next or to identify you. We record the page, the product, the website that sent you (if any), your country and whether you are on a phone, tablet or computer. Nothing is shared with anyone. If your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, your visits are not counted at all.
Children
This store is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
